Domaine Grier

Chardonnay 2017

CHARDONNAY

IGP Pays d’Oc

VARIETY:    Chardonnay    100%

VINTAGE:    2017

AREA OF ORIGIN: Roussillon, South of France

PRODUCT BACKGROUND: After years of contact and cooperation with France, the Grier family of Villiera Wines in South Africa, purchased a vineyard the South of France in 2006. They produce a complete range of wines in the heart of the Fenouillèdes, in the famous Agly Valley, considered one of the finest terroirs of the Roussillon region. The Domaine Grier Chardonnay expresses the successful combination of Old and New World.

WINEMAKING: The fruit was picked at optimum ripeness to ensure good fruit intensity and refreshing acidity. After crushing the mash was drained immediately and gently pressed to ensure elegance. Sixty six percent of the wine was fermented in used oak barrels and the balance was tank fermented. After stabilization, the wine was bottled in December 2017.

TASTING NOTES: A lightly wooded Chardonnay with a bouquet of citrus and hint of pear. It is fresh with an underlying minerality but balanced by a long creamy finish.
